(Received this day at 9.40 a.m.) NOME (Alaska), Feb. 17
The frozen bodies of Carl Ben Eielson and Earl Borland were found buried in a snowbank where they
were hurled as their plane crashed on November 9th, near North Cape. Eielson and the mechanic were returning with a cargo of furs from the Siberian coast when a fog intervened and evidently their altimeter falsely registered a thousand feet off the ground, and when going at full speed they crashed Into a snow mound, scattering the engine parts and fustv lage over half an acre and killing both men instantly.
Twenty thousand sterling was spent by the United States and Canadian Governments in searching, and Soviet officials rendered valuable assistance,
having eighteen workmen digging snow to uncover the bodies.
