NEW FRENCH TANK
FORMIDABLE AFFAIR.
(United Press Association—By Eleetrie Telegraph—Copyright).
LONDON, February 17.' The Daily Telegraph’s Military correspondent says: The whole problem of land armaments is vitally affected by a new French tank. It may prove as revolutionary as the German pocket battleship. Whereas the British tanks are only eight millimetres in thickness of armour, the new French “mystery” tanks carry armour of forty-five millimetres in front and thirty-five millimetres round the turret. They are electrically driven. Though they weigh seventy tons, their speed is at least, eight miles an hour, being faehfejF tha n' . any war-time r tanks j though slower than the British lightly armoured tanks. The latter can keep odfc rifle and machine gun bullets, but do not keep out the new armour piercing bullets of tlie- decimal 303 inch calibre. The French tanks are able to defy all British anti-tank machine guns, and drive onward crushing helpless gunners. "■ " '
