LIQUOR SALES.

IN ASHBURTON DISTRICT

ASHBURTON, February 14

At the Magistrate’s Court, three men appeared on charges in connection with illegal sale of liquor. Roland T, Bailey, for soiling without a license, was fined £lO. Frederick Charles Price was fined £lO on a similar charge. Nelson Raynor Bushel! ancV Price were jointly charged with being parties, os the occupiers of the premises. The former was fined £35, and the latter £25.

The de'enc-e was that the accused were agents for a brewery, and were not aware that it was a breach of the ad to hand liquor to purchasers. The agency was conducted in, conjunction with a tobacconist’s business. William -Krnest Clements was fined CIO and delieensed for one year for bei-ng drunk in a car.
