SWIMMING

Word has been received from the Secretary of the New Zealand Swimming Council that Misses P. Rebinson and M. Farquhar, , Auckland’s champion lady swimmers, will be visiting Hokitika, on Tuesday, the 25th inst. In addition to giving demonstrations to the school children of the district they will appear at the Swimming Club’s carnival the same evening.

The first distance of the Newman Cup competition took place on Sat-, urday afternoon and, resulted as follows:—N. Yarrall ; 1, W. Butland 2, W. Sanders 3. Time 19- 3-5 secs. The second distance (50 yards) will take place on Wednesday afternoon at 4.30 o’clock.
