AUCKLAND, Feb. 17
The weather is threatening, the covered wicket good and outfield slow. Lowry won the toss and put England in. England omitting Turn'bull as twelfth man, Benson and Earle. The score just at noon was 27 for no wickets (Rowley 20, Dawson 7). At 12.30 England had made 54 for no wickets (Bowley -10, Davison 12.) At the luncheon adjournment the score was 1 for 124 (Bowie,v, not out, 73, Dawson, b Merritt, 23, Duleepsinliji, not out 26, extras 2.)
