NEW YORK, Jan. 9

The Australian High Commissioner saw a motion picture demonstration of Smuts' to-day and congratulated him on the work he was doing in fostering the League of Nations. He said that the General expressed keen interest in Australian affairs, and remarked upon the important part played by Australia in the British Empire.

COTTON PICKING MACHINE

NEW YORK, Jan. 9

The Australian High Commissioner, Mr Brookes, during this afternoon saw a motion picture emonstration of an American cotton-picking m in the Texas cotton fields. The High Commissioner plans a western trip in later months, and, it is understood may see the machine under actual working conditions.
