The Committee of the Westland Racing Club meets at 8.45 o’clock to complete final arrangements for the race meeting. ■ To-night the Soldiers’ Hall promises to be well filled for the Santa Claus dance organised as a benefit by the Black Hand Orchestra. The object is to provide a Christmas gift in the form of an invalid chair for a lrspital patient, and so worthy a purpose will be approved on all sides. The admission is 2s. and donations from well wishers who may not find it convenient to attend may be handed to Mr A. H. Lawn. Dancing commences at 8.30 and concludes at midnight. Dates of issue cf Railway Excursion tickets for the Christmas Holidays are advertised in this issue. The through train service between Greymouth and Christchurch will run daily (except Sunday) from Thursday, 19th. December to Saturday, 4th. January, inclusive. Connections will he made with trains from and to Hokitika, Reefton, and Blackball each day hut on 25th. December there will he no connection from and to' Blackball, south of Hokitika, north of Reefton. and from and to Rewanui. On 21st. 23rd. and 24th. T| -cemhor, and 4th. January relief mail trains will run between Greymouth and Christchurch.
