Football Clubs expressed his appreciation of the en thusiastic support Mr Osmers line given to sport- in the district, and Mr F. Dennehy spoke on similar lines on. behalf of the Okarito Sports Club.

At the conclusion of the presentation hearty cheers wore given for Mr Osmers, and “Ho’,s a jolly good folio.” was sung lustily. Mr Osmers on rising to reply was loudly applauded. He thanked the people present for their handsome gift. He stated that- during his stay amongst the people many kindnesses had been shown him, and lie enjoyed every minute during his stay. He

thanked (his parishioners and the residents generally for the generosity and hospitality they had shown him and he assured them that lie would always carry with him very pleasant recollections of South Westland.

A dainty supper was served by the ladies, after which songs were given by Mrs G. Northcroft, and recitations were given by Mr S. Heyward, both being much appreciated. Misses Adamson and B«rry supplied excellent music for the dance which followed. Mr J. -Nisson, who carried out the duties of M.C., kept the dancers moving meerily to an early hour in the morning.
