One of the greatest treks in the annals of Canadian ,history began in the far north where three thousand reimiecer were purchased by the Dominion Government from a firm ; -in Alaska, were started from Elephant Point on a fifteen hundred miles pilgrimage across to the Mackenzie River delta. Wilkins of the folly of (attempting polar exploration in a submarine. He describes the whole project as absurd, and asks how he is going to rise to the surface and recharge accumulators. He points out the indicator with which he hopes to keep in touch with the air would be destroyed by blasting the ice cover.
