GALLIPOLI
GENERAL lAN HAMILTON. [United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.] this clay at 8.30- a.m.) i London, Dec. 6. “The public has a remedy in its own hands,” declared Sir lan Hamilton to a “Daily News” representative when referring to Mr Lloyd George's remarks on Gallipoli, cabled on 4th December. “It ought to insist on the publication of the Dardanelles Commission’s report. I agree there was no co-ordination at Whitehall during the Dardanelles expedition. The Departments of State wore in steel clad compartments. There will he no change until a Department of Defence is created to coordinate action. The Commission’s report contains the opinions of witnesses on oath with a memory of events fresh in their minds. Some military reputations might not be quite so shining afterwards. What does that matter. There can he no harm from a strategical military viewpoint.” Speaking to the “Evening News” representative General Hamilton said, “Often during the past ten years I commented on the absurdity of eontinning, for the sake of two or thiee political reputations, to keep dark that mine of interest, namely, the Dardanelles report. The public has been flupdoodled into imagining the actual leport published by the Royal Commission, with a few extracts from remarks of witnesses, contained something 'approaching a precis of the whole matter. It is nothing of the sort. “Do you know what flapdoodle really is 1 ? “It is food they use to feed fools.”
