. That the day is near at hand when Empire' newspapers will be published simultaneously in London, Capetown, Sydney, Montreal, and Calcutta, is one or the many amazing claims lor a new invention of high speed telegraphy made by Colonel Adrian Simpson, at a dinner in the Hyde Park Hotel. He said: As everyone knows, the Stentote Radiostnt was invented by Doctor Janies Robin-son,' late Chief Wireless Research Officer in the Royal Air Force. Other claims are that it will enable an unlimited number of broadcasting stations to operate. Between wave lengths of three hundred metres atnd six hundred metres, no fewer than five thousand stations can be employed, whereas at present, the limit is twenty-five stations. Ten thousand words per minute could be telegraphed at a great reduction in the cost of telegraphy and telephone, and ten times .lie amount of traffic could he carried over the existing lines. The whole contents of a large daily newspaper letterpress and pictures—can be l'riithfully transmitted to any distance in a few minutes.
