A. STRIKE CLASH. - TWO PERSONS KILLED. By Telegraph—Press Assn., Copyright. AVELLINGTON, October 3. A message from -Marion, North Carolina, states a clash between rival union factions and deputy sheriffs at Alarion Textile Manufacturing Company’s plant, resulted in two being killed and fourteen injured, five of whom are expected to die. A general gun battle caused th© fatalities.

A SUICIDE. AUCKLAND, October 2. Missed from his bed about six o’clock this morning, Frederick Christopher Braithwa.ite, aged 49 years, schoolmaster at Tamaki, was found by bis eldest' son lying dead in the yard of his home. CAR LOOPED THE LOOP. WHANGAREI, October 1. A sensational accident occurred on Kamo Road last night, when a sevenseater car skidded and looped the loop, landing on the wheels. Bernard Luks, aged 27, a hairdresser, charged with the theft of goods valued at £3O and a small amount in cash from a hospital and various shops, had a seizure in tlie prisoners’ room at the Police Court this morning before his case was heard. He was described by the police as a confirmed drug addict. He had previously been on Rotoroa Island and went straight for six months but drugs again got him down. Mr Hunt, S.M., ordered two years at Hotoroa.
