ST ANDREW’S SALE OF WORK

A SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. _ The annual sale of work in connection with the Presbyterian Church took place yesterday in St. Andrew’s nail and passed oil very successfully. ■ ' The weather was beautifully fine and rusn business was done at the various stalls both afternoon and evening. There was a line display of daffodil blooms staged . down the centre of the hall which were grown and presented bv Mr Spiers or Kumara, and there j r i was also a pretty little exhibit of workju, clone by children of the Kumara State tociiool. , j, V Rev. J' W. Hayward opened the sale \ J at 2.36 and congratulated the ladies upon the line lot of work they had prepared as the result of months of patient labour. Mr Spiers was specially -•*> thanked for his beautiful flowers and the hope was expressed that the results of tlie sale would be to bring«>tiiin reach the commencement of the new church. 1

The following were the stalls with die ladies named in charge.

Produce—Mesdames J. and A. B. King, Blank and Orr. ■L Work stall—Mesdames G. Anderson, McCarthy and Simpson. Cakes—Mesdames Preston.and Cowie. Flowers —Misses Davidson and D. Stevenson; Tea Room—Mesdames Mclntosh, Ander:on Huxford,- Uiquhart,. Johnson, Burt and H. Park. Fish Pond —Misses M. Robinson and M. Pedder.' Jellys’ and Cream—Airs A. Thompson and;Miss M. Thompson. ' ;- Hbopla—Norman .Rowe and Colin Cox. ’ Mrs Parkhill, President of the Ladies’ Guild and Airs Thompson, Secretary, were both kept busy during the day and deserve special praise for their efforts. Before the close Mr Hayward thanked all who had contributed to the success of the function, especially mentioning the press for the manner in which they advertised the function.. He announced that the blooms from Sir Heaton Rliocles would arrive on Thursday. and would he on sale on Friday outside Air PreHpn’s slide in Revell St. It is exnected that after deducting expenses there-will be a p-o’jt of .over - £l2O for the Scot’s Alemorial Fund.
