Mr 'Pobree was a treat loyer of animals, and after his death Tabby, tho grey and black-eat ef the vicarage' household, haunted tho newly prepared grave. Mrs Sarah •Saunders, of Great TTeywood, Oolwioh said: 'Hie day before the funeral T saw the cat in the churchyard staring at the grave, as if it
understood that it as for its old friend. My husband went to the animal, but it took .no notice. The verger said that he had seen the cat sitting motionless beside the grave for a long time, hut it Later abandoned its watch.
