First round: Heeney forced the fighting, playing for the body. Hoffmann (who was the former amateur champion) backing away. It was Heeney’s round. Second round: They wrestled round the ring awkwardly. Hoffmann landed blow for blow. Heeney flinched. Hoffmann scored with two rights. Hoffman’s round. Third round: Heeney forced the fight ing. Heeney’s round. Fourth round: Heeney continued' to drive to the body and forced Hoffman to the ropes and pounded him. Hoffman crossed a hard right to the jaw, making Tom’s knees sag. Blood was drawn from ime New Zealander’s mouth. The round was even. Fifth round: It was a slow fight with much prancing and no telling blows were landed. Hoffman became aggressive and beating Heeney to the pounch. Hoffman’s round. Sixth round : It ■ was . a wrestling match for the most nart. Hoffman broke Heeney’s nose with a hard right and the round went to Hoffman. Seventh Round: Tom opened a cut under Hoffman’s eye with a right and hammered him on the ropes. Heeney’s round. ' -. : * Eight Round: 'Heeney shook Hoffman with left to the jaw and beat him to the punch. Heeney’s round, Ninth: Hoffman missing badly and Heeney getting in. Heeney -fought savagely. Heeney’s round. Tenth Round: Heeney was stronger and was carrying the fight to Huffman. Heeney’s round. • Heeney won the decision.
