N.S.W. COAL TROUBLE
AWKWARD POSITION FOR NORTHERN COAL-OWNERS. (Australian Press Association) (Received this day at noon.) SYDNEY, Sept. 27. The Crown Solicitor, Air Tillett', advised the State Premier that the Northern opal owners had rendered their leases liable to cancellation through failure to employ men. The Covenants provide that a certain number of competent hands lie employed, and unless prevented by accident, the mines must be worked on all lawful workin" days. The question, therefore, is whether non-employment owing to the present dispute is an accident. Mr Tillett is of llie opinion that the owners are not entitled to rely thereon,” and the question of fact must bo determined by. the Executive Council.
