At' the recent Competitions the following successes were gained by pupils of the Sisters of Mercy:— First Places.—Contralto solo, “ Sapphic Ode,” Miss M. Nolan; piano solo, “ Elfantanz,” Miss V. Nightingale; piano duet, “ Moskouski’s Valse,” It. and G. Jacobs ; mezzo-soprano solo, iviiss Rita Morgan; soprano solo, Miss M. Hanrahan; piano solo, “ Hexentanz,” Miss A. Lynn; sacred solo, Miss Rita Morgan; operatic solo, Miss Rita Morgan; piano solo, “Nocturne in E flat” (Chopin), Miss Gwen Jacobs ; choral singing, Convent Choir; violin solo, “ Schron ltosmarin,” Duncan Heinz; violin solo, “ Fairies,” John Fitzgerald.
Second Places. —Piano solo, “ Elfentanz,” Ruby Gutberlet; piano duet “ Moskouski’s Valse,” Maureen Fitzgerald and Moira Stopforth; mezzosoprano solo, Ada Lynn; violin solo, “Souvenir,” John Ackers; sacred solo, Ada Lynn; piano solo, “ Hexentanz,”, Gwen Jacobs; violin sclo, “Londonderry Air,” Duncan Heinz; piano solo, “Nocturne in E Flat” (Chopm), Monica Knowles; song for girls, Jane Warren ; action chorus. Third Places. —Piano “ Waltz,” (Coleridge Taylor), Ena Clark; ir.ezz'.;soprano solo, D. Fleming; soprano’solo, ina Groufsky; piano solo, “Hexentanz,” Mary Houlahan; piano solo, “ Nocturne in E flat ” (Chopin), Moira Stopforth; song for x girls, Mary McGirr; violin solo, “Londonderry Air,” Eva Randall; sacred solo (under 14), Dorrie lnwood.
AMENDED RESULTS. '
Owing to the very limited time avail-' able, one or two errors occurred in the bustle of announcing results of the following classes. An outstanding feature 'of the Hokitia Competitions was the remarkable successes scored by the pupils of Mrs B. Windsor and Miss B. Evans, every one .of whom gained a place, many securing 4,6, and 9 prizes..
