BRITISH POLITICS
/ ELECTION POSSIBILITIES. (United Press Association.—By Electric
Telegraph.—Copyright.) LONDON, Sept. 13. The “Morning Post’s” political correspondent suggests that Mr Ramsay MacDonald, thinking himself now in a strong position, after his Government’s settlement of international questions, and following upon the popular Budget by Mr Philip Snowden, might go to the country next year, pleading for a release of the Government from the minority handicap, and asking for a working majority. The correspondent, therfore, warns the Conservatives to be prepared. PREMIER’S QUICK DECISION. LONDON, Sept. 13. The announcement that Rt. Hon. Ramsay MacDonald was definitely going to America on September 28th. followed upon the U.S.A. Ambassador’s visit to Downing Street, where he presented the latest American Note. It took the Prime Minister under an hour to peruse this information and to converse with -the Ambassador. Then he made up his mind on the spot to make the trip to America. This, in itself, is regdrded as an indication that the two Governments are near final accord. Mr MacDonald subsequently had a conference with Mr Alexander, being accompanied by a High Admiralty Official. v To-day the Note will be submitted to the Foreign Office, and the various experts.
The Cabinet will prolfffby be summoned.
