■ ‘ REPLY" TO ITALY
LONDON, August 23
Regarding the Schneider Cup, the Aero Club Committee state that the Italian Government’s request for a month Vpostponement of the race has been received, and the Italian Attache has been’'informed as to the rules of tlie International Aeronautical' Federa- ‘ tion, which they state do not allow the Club to postpone the contest once the entries have been received; It is authoritatively explained that a postponement would involve a tremendous dislocation of plans, and that enormous • expense would be incurred by the Admiralty and to railway and shipping, companies, and that the event '■ would be' bfoiight to naught. Meteorological experts advise that such a race would be virtually impossible after September.
