HALF-YEARLY INSTALLATION. The installation of the newly elected officers of Westland Lodge (No. 89) took place 'at the lodge room last evening. D.P. Bro. Barrowman of Star of the West was.. the installing officer and was .assisted by Bro. .Saunders, the two officers carrying out their duties in a most impressive manner. The new officers are as follows: J.P.A.: Bro. T. P. Lock. *A.D.: Bro. G. Noble. V.A.D.: Sister A. Rutland. Secretary: P.S. Bro. J. Fox. Treasurer: P.A. Bro. J?. Ballinger. I,G. Bro.. J. Davern. 0.G.: P.A. Bro. J. L. Turner. A.D. Bards: Sister F. Ballinger and Bro. J. Tinetti.
V.A. Bards: Sisters Jolly and Herring. M.S.: P.A. Bro. F. Groufsky. Pianiste: Sister H. Selby. There were a number, of visitors from lodges in No. 13 district and after business was concluded those present adjourned to the supper room where the following toast list was honoured : A.D. Bro. G. Noible proposed “The King and the Order.” P.A. Bro. F. Ballinger proposed the toast of the “Grand Lodge,’’ and coupled with it the names of D.P. Bro. Barrowman and P.D.P. Bro. Tennent. In responding Bro. Barrowman, after commenting on the favourable financial position of Druidism in New Zealand, appealed to young members to carry out the Druidic ideals of benevolence and fraternity. He pointed out that though paying dues into the lodge was much in the nature of paying insurance, there was much more in the benefits of Druidism than financial help in times of stress. Members of the Order, he said, as well as enjoying social and intellectual benefits, could alwavs count on sympathy and a helpful interest from brother and sister Druids. Bro. Tennent stressed the necessity of co-operation within each lodge and stated members must continue to put forth their best efforts to maintain, the lodge where it was to-day. He mentioned that the Grand President, Bro. Jackson, would he visiting '“the Coast during the coming term. P.A. Pm. Lock proposed “The. Visitors,” which was responded to by Bros. Patterson (Star of the AYest), Douglas (Seddon Lodge), and a representative of the Reefton lodge. P.A. Bro. Saunders proposed “The District President. ,r Responded to by D.P. Bro. Barrowman. P.D.P. Bro. Tennent proposed “Newlv-elected Officers,” who replied suitably. P.\. Bro. Lock proposed “The Ladies.’’ which was responded to bv Bro*. AYainman, McFee, and Tennent jnr.. on behalf of the ladies of the lodges. During the evening the followin'” rendered items: Bro. AYainman fmoutb organ solo), Bro. Myers (song), Bro. Schroder (song), Bro. Richmond (banjo solo), and songs by Sister's AYainman and Coles of the Seddon lodge and Sisters Herring and Jolly of the Westland lodge. ‘ Bro. Tennent jnr.. of Star of the West played the accompaniments. Auld Lang Syne concluded a very enjoyable evening. At tbe ordinary meeting held earlin tbe evening the usual business watransaeted, accounts and sick pnv totalling £3 os 4d. being passed for payment.
