ROTARY CONVENTION

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright).

.Received this day at 12.25. p.m.) NEW YORK, May 27.

Mr Hutton, delivering the annual presidential message at the Rotary International Convention at Delias (Texas) outlined the purposes of tlio growth of Rotary. He ; stated lie believed the suggestions for any farm of administrative change were unwise and insisted on the American Rotarian ideals and methods not being forced 1 upon the members of other nationalities and that .Rotary was largely running in financial loss, especially in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, where the expenses were greater than the income. He added he discovered a misunderstanding of the organisation in Italy, and felt called upon to clarify the. doubts and misgivings, which seemed’ to have risen in the minds of their’neighbours and the Roman Catholic clergy in Europe. He took the opportunity to deplore and correct the impressions made by a few individuals lending to the misundering of Rotary. He found. the critics were not fully informed, and were speaking through prejudice instead, of reason. He stated he had found few criticisms-, df liis actions in Italy pr other countries. In pointing font that Rotary was wholly international 'in spirit, lie felt certain before long understanding and friendly appreciation would replace the misgivings and misunderstandings. •' 4
