The Franklin Racing Club’s winter meeting was held to-day in beautiful weather in the presence of a large attendance. The course was somewhat heavy after a night’s rain. The tote handled £26,320. Results:—
Trial Handicap (First Division). — (1) Cruachan 1, (6) Catonian 2, (5) Parlait Amour 3. Won by two lengths; a neck. Time 1.19..1-5.
Trial Handicap (Second Division). — (3) Diamond Queen 1, (20) Ruby Dawn 2, (4) Loving Cup 3. Won by threequarters of a length. Time 1.19 15. Ramarama Highweiglit Handicap.— (3) Biznrro 1, (4) Harbour View 2, (8) Kawini 3. Won by a head; threequarters of a length. Time 2.3 2-5. HAWERA, May 11. ’i lie Kgmont Racing Club’s winter meeting concluded to-day in fine, though cold weather. The attendance showed a decline on the previoiis year and the tote investments (£18,168) were £2932$ down on the day, the total for tho being £36,1155, a decrease of £3,340. Resulting from a fall in the Steeplechase, E. Stanway, rider of Gilga’i, was taken to the hospital with back injuries, hut these are not deemed serious.
