A SEND OFF
A AIATAJNUI GATHERING

There was a large gathering of Icmdents of the district and vicinity atthe Wataroa Public Hall on Wednesday evening on the occasion of a farewell dance tendered to Air and Aits ivl. Patrick on the occasion of their leaving the district. Mr \Y. H. Chinn referred to the regret being felt at the approaching departure of Air and Airs Patrick and asked acceptance from the residents of a travelling rug by Airs Patrick and of a case ol pipes by Air Patrick.
Air T. Afcßride in speaking to the presentation cuLgisul Air Patrick as a good sport, instancing his racing proclivities where lie had always given backers a run for their money. He joined in expressions of regret at the departure of Mr and Airs Patrick. Tho assemblage heartily sang “For They are Jolly Good Fellows.”
Air Patrick responding, expressed his regret at leaving so many old friends, hut lie had decided to go to .he North Island and try Ids hand at farming there. He expressed his i hanks to the settlers around the district for their valued presents which Airs Patrick and himself would always treasure wherever they may be. Dancing was then resumed until an an early hour before a very pleasant function came ,to a successful close.
