UNIVERSAL HALFHOLIDAY
favoured by premier. NAPIER, May 0. The Prime Minister, in reply to a Napier deputation this morning, said he would give the fullest consideration to representations requesting the enactment of legislation fixing a universal half-holiday, whicli he, personally, was in favour of, as he believed it to be the only solution of the difficulty. He was prepared to ascertain the feeling of the House by introducing a Bill on the matter. It had been before Parliament on other occasions, and all sides had put forward very strong arguments, and it seemed impossible to get any one day suitable ito all interests.
