RUMANIAN PRECEDENT
LONDON, March 6.
The Rumanian Government has officially asked the Polish Government to agree to a rectification of the Ruman-ian-Polish frontier, allowing the triangle between Marmoschsiget and Paltin to be transferred from Polish to Rumanian sovereignty.
This action is of far greater than local importance. Jt means the abandonment of the frontiers laid down by the Trianon Treaty and a confession that the illogical argument that such frontiers must he inviolate can no longer be defended. in other words, Rumania, first of those Succession States which were enlarged at the expense of the old AustroHungarian Monarchy, has admitted that the frontiers then fixed are neither the best not the definite word in this question.
Rumania has recognised the need for a readjustment of the injustices and mistakes of the Trianon Treaty, the authors of which are now becoming its severest critics.
It will be interesting to see whether the example of Rumania will be followed by the others Powers of the Little Entente and also how speedily Rumania will take up the frontier questions at issue with her other neighbours, includ-
ing Hungary
