“I would choose English, well spoken. as the medium of expression of which L would tire last. It is worthy of any destiny. The possibilities of this great organ of expression transcend even Shakespeare and the Bible. Dare we say that English is past its prime ?Shall wo accept- defeat and write the word decadent across tho page ?We cannot judge the English of our day. 1 like to regard our language as still in the making, and I think our attitude towards it should have more reverence: that we should love our mother tongue as we love our country, and try to express ourselves with vigour, dignity and g nu .
