The acceptances for the AVestland IWing Club’s meeting duelling on Boxing Day. appear in this issue. They are very satisfactory indeed, and give promise of a good meeting. The fields should range from fair to good, and the even quality of the horses competing should result in first class sport. The welcome rain yesterday was very acceptable for the racecourse, and will enable the racing track to be voted first-class. -The carpenters are finishing up either to-day or to-morrow, which indicates that everything is in order for the meeting, ft is a result greatly to the credit of all concerned, and particularly to Air D. Stevenson, who has been in charge of the works about the stand and the buildings. Visitors continue to praise .the arrangements which appear to lie as complete as forethought can make them. It is expected the race meeting will draw a record attendance. The Railway Department has provided a most convenient time-table to all parts of the Westland section, and a great influx of visitors may lie expected.
