MANY RESCUES

As a result of easterly gales there is a tremendous surf at Coogee. Ilmuli Life-Saving Brigade to-day rescued about a dozen bathers carried to sea. Some in a ha Iff dead condition were resuscitated by ambulance men. A Now Zealander caused a diversion by swimming in the danger zone nearly three hundred yards from the shore, bile savers went after him. but lie leisurely came ashore on top of huge breakers and when reproved by tin* Surf Brigade men because of the risks of sharks and undertow, lie calmly retorted: “Why we think nothing ol going that far out in Now Zealand.” SYDNEY, November 24.
The Now Zealander indicated in the surf incident was Ronald Webster, ol Auckland.
