HOY SENTENCED FOR FRAUD

INVERCARGILL, November 20
Alhui Edward Tubman, aged 20 years, charged with fraudulently stating that he had posted a letter containing money, whereas he had not posted it, appeared for sentence. Tubman had purchased a motorcycle on a time-purchase agreement and as he was unable to pay the instalment on it, lie claimed to have posted the amount, whereas he had not done
Accused was sentenced to twelve months in a Borstal institution.

John Corry and Thomas David alias Davis, both Assyrians, were each sentenced to lour years’ hard laboui on two charges of breaking, entering and theft, involving a total of £7fi and Uid in goods, the sentences to he concurrent with those imposed in Dunedin recently.
||is Honour commented that accused were professional criminals, and no doubt members ol a gang.
