WOMAN OUTRAGED
BUT REFUSES EVIDENCE,

SYDNEY, Oct. 26
>, Jacky Simpson, aged 23, a bookmaker, and Charles Webb, aged 22, a farmer, appeared to-day at the court on ,a charge of assaulting a young married woman. The woman on Tuesday night accepted a proffered car ride with half-a-dozen young men. She later told the police that when tile car reached some scrub land at Matraville, en route to Botany, she was dragged out of the car and was then criminally assaullted by all of the six men. Her screams attracted notice, and police appeared. The assailants then decamped. The men Simpson and Webb were later arrested.
When Simpson and Webib appeared in the Court to-day on the charge of assault, the police stated that the woman concerned has now declined to give any evidence against the accused.
The two men were remanded on bail which previously had been refused them.
