OFF TO ANTARCTIC
BYRD STARTS. NEW YORK, October 10. Los Angeles reports state that Commander Byrd, aboard the whaler “C. A. Larsen,” sailed this evening tfrom Sail Pedro harbour for the Antarctic. WILKINS PROGRESS. MONTE VIDEO, October 10. Sir Geo. Wilkins, the Australian explorer, with two companion explorers, arrived here to-day on the steamer “ Southern Cross.” They will remain here for two i\eeks, after which they will embark by the steamer “ Victoria,” for. Deception Island, to establish their base there.
