A RIDER’S CLUB.

(To the Editor.) -Sir,—As a constant reader of your paper which represents a .beautiful country, destined I believe, to be the holiday spot, not only of thousands of New Zealanders, but ever a large number of oversea tourists, I have been interested in articles and no-ter. that have appeared from time to tiipe of the natural ibeautv to he found in the more remote parts of your interesting province which is only accessible By pack tracks. Have not your nro’-rer-'- bodies realised the importance of ’advertising these tracks in such a 'manner that .would appeal to riders and horse-lovers? Would not an organisation,’,a riders club, organised on similar lines to that of the “Trail riders of the Canadian Rockies,” be an excellent means of making these tracks better known. The .aims of this organisation have much in common with our Forestry League and Native JR i ref Protection Society; Amongst them arc the preservations of .forest, against fire, and for the use of the imblie, and the study, and conversation of bird, animal and plant life. Also the encouragement of travel on horseback "through the Rockies, and the maintenance of old historic trails.

Having been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time on horseback in out-of-the-way parts of our own beautiful country, I feel that it is a matter for regret that more people do not 'realise what a delightful means' it is to be getting off the beaten track, especially for those unable to walk long distances and carry a pack. At all the tourist resorts in the Rockies saddle-horses and guides can be obtained, and it seems absurd that at our leading holiday resoits moie is not do lie to add an attraction so popular with the -tourists in Western Canada and America. I am, etc., HORSE-LOVER.
