■ MANAGERS. REPORT. SOME CRITICISM. (By Telegraph—Press Association). - WELLINGTON, September 26. A report, • dated August 15th. 1928, •from the manager of the N.Z.’ Olympic team (Mr H. Amos), detailing the performances at Amst-erdani,' was ■ presented yto : the Olympic Councif to-night. Miss Wilson, wrote. Mr Amos, could npf .dp her.best on the day, and in the circumstances,'ran well. The'swimmers were not class . enough, although the girls were unable to dp themselves justice, but, even fit and well, they were not fast enough to win, nor was Lindsay. Miss Stockley was fortunate to qualify. She struck an easy heat. In the boxing section, the report says, Cleverley did not rise to the occasion, and he fought disappointingly against a very average man. Morgan performed brilliantly, and the issues were never in doubt.’ His fights were amongst the few where there was no 'disputing' the decision. ; The judging throughout was most unsatisfactory. A sood boxer had no chance against a Slogger/ Many of the boxers were allowed to fight with -their heads, elbows, and, in some cases, their teeth. Many bf the decisions were badly received and no wonder. . In some cases there was almost a riot.

Tlie track at the Stadium, Mr Amos says, was not too satisfactory, and it cut up badly. Canada is endeavouring to arrange an Empire Sports Meeting at Hamilton, Ontario, about August i 930. arid will extend invitations to the various governing 1 bodies- throughout the ’ Empire,- tori be . /'represented. A Soiithefn Hemisphere Sports Meeting, between South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand, has also been suggested, the first meeting to take place in Sydney in 1929 or 1931, and Africa and Australia are both, in favour of it.

Regarding the possibility of obtaining overseas athletic teams, Mr Amos stated that they might get a good German team. He found the Germans The best sports in Europe. The Canadians would be prepared to come at an early date, but hardly before the 1929-30 season.’ Canada had some splendid Athletes. The only chance for next season was an American team. There should he ■no difficulty in getting a gbod' team from California. The New Zealand team will arrive back here about October 10th.
