COUNTY CLERKS CONFER
FORM AN INSTITUTE. (By Telegraph—Press Association). WELLINGTON, Sept. 26. About 70 delegates from all parts of both Islands attended the inaugural meeting of the County Clerks of New Zealand to-day, when it was unanimously decided to form an organisation, to be known as tbe New Zealand Institute of County Clerks. A constitution was adopted. The Dominion was divided into seven district brandies viz, Auckland, 30 counties; I aranaki, 10: Wellington, 21; Hawke’s Bay, 14; West Coast, 8: Canterbury, including Marlborough, 29; OtagO' and Southland,. 15.
The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr F. C. Berry (Waitomo) ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs C. Kelby (Ashburton) and F. H. Hudson (Horowhemui) .Secretary and Treasurer, Mr J. W. Harding (Hawera);
Executive: [Messrs 0. A. Cawkwcll (Auckland), H. H. Richardson (Wellington), B.'Ct. Signall (Hawke’s Bay), R. Ellis (Taranaki), T). .T. Evans ■.(West Coast), A. A. Readdie (C'anterhu.ry), and J. Logan (Otago and Southland); Auditor. G. Derbyshire (Wanganui). Steps arc to he taken to register the institute under the Incorporated Societies Act.
