AIR. MINISTRY’S TESTS. (Received this, day at 9.30-a.m). LONDON, July 1.2, The Air Ministry’s officials tested Lowenstein’s machine at Croydon. Flying at a thousand feet, Major Cooper, tide with a rope, flung himself ao-ainst the door, which opened six inches. He was immediately flung back into the cabin by the rush of wind from the propellors. There was. a prolonged struggle, before he was able to climb out on the stei>.
CANADA’S NATIONAL DAY.. OTTAWA, July 12. A dramatic, sensational move to stimulate the observance of Canada’s national day came on the eve of twelfth July celebrations, from Colonel R, H. Stacey, for seven years Grand Chaplain of the Orange Order, Ontario. He urged Catholics and Protestants to hold f, joint celebration on July Ist., instead of the Freneli-Canadiah’s St. Jean the Baptist Day on June 2.4 th, and Orange oh July 12th. Great weight is attached th the suggestion, 'because Ontario is overwhelmingly Orange. At Toronto to-dav there was a parade of ten thousand strong.
