CYNTHIA STOCKLEY’S “THE CLAW ” —TO-NIGHT.
Norman Kerry and Claire Windsor are the co-stars of “The Claw,” adapted from the famous novel by Cynthia Stock ley and directed by Sidney Oleott. Arthur Edmund Carew plays a featured role. The African veldt—that vast and practically unexplored plane of the Dark Continent, with its barbarisms. its buried billions, and its lurking perils—is Lhe locale of the principal part of the story which begins in England on a wealthy country estate. For those who like romance at its height interwoven with thrills and potent drama, “ The Claw ” should prove one of the most entertaining pictures of the year. Human love flares red in the still, seductive nights on the veldt. An English beauty, infatuated with a swarthy major, who is a married man, allows herself to be disgraced in the eyes of society rather than give up the romantic officer. A native revolt stirs up the dust of the veldt and little human woes are swallowed up in big ones until the high pitched climax when love is returned to its own. Universal has spared no effort in making this picture one to ho remembered. In
addition to Norman Kerry, Claire Windsor, and Arthur Edmund Carew, the cast of "The Claw” includes Helen Sullivan. Tom Guise, Nelson AHDowell and many others. See “The Claw ” this evening at the Princess The usual good supports, including topical, scenic and comedy, complete a fine programme. On .Monday next the big Paramount special “ Behind the Front,” showing the sunny side of the war, and starring Wallace Beery, Raymond Hatton, and Alary Brian will be tlie big attraction.
