AMERICAN TOURIST CRUISES
OMITTING AUSTRALIA AND NEW ZEALAND. (Australian & N.Z. Cable Association.) I (Received this clay at 9,30 a.in.) (NEW YORK.. Oct. 28. Australia, and New Zealand will not bo included in the itineraries id a world cruise being conducted this season by large tourist agencies in America, and intimation from one company suggests that ports in these two dominions will also be omitted in future voyages. Raymond and Whitcombe C'oy states—'‘The inclusion of Australian and New Zealand has not proved sufficient ot a selling point to make it. possible for us to successfully sell this cruise with these countries included, taking into consideration the tact that a great deal more extra, steaming is required to reach them. Passengers in other words have not found Australia .sufficiently interesting to be able to enthuse to their friends over the first visit and we have been obliged to drop it from our route.” Cooks stated We feel it desirable to go back to visit Lidia. China and Japan. It is not possible to include Australia in the itinerary outlined. This does not mean we shall not at some future date include Australia and New Zealand. In case you have any question in mind whether our experience was the same as that repnited by others we take occasion to point out that the omission of Australia is not because the people did not enjoy it. Our people thoroughly enjoyed it and we have ever intention of including Australia, and New Zealand in our cruise at some tuture date. Yot'i will grant that interest in such new countries is not as great as interest in the wilder countries of India, China and Japan. It is understood a private individual may conduct a limited tourist party from America to Australia in January, hut no plans are yet fixed.
