CHINESE TROUBLE.
(Australian & N.Z. Cable Association. BRITISH AT SHANGHAI. SHANGHAI. Aug. 31. It is officially announced that in. pursuance of a policy of gradually reducing British forces stationed - at Shanghai ,the following units will be withdrawn during the coming trooping season—First Field Brigade, Royal* Artillery headquarters. Thirteenth Infantry Brigade, First Battalion Green Howards, First Battalion Border Regiment First Battalion Middlesex, First Battalion Devonshire. The latter belonging to tho Fourteenth Infantry Brigade, will he the first unit to leave, embarking for Malta not later than September 10th. Two departing infantry battalions will he replaced by two battalions of the Fifteenth Infantry Brigade now in Hong Kong. Tho result of these moves will be that the British garrison at Shanghai during the coming winter will -consist of five infantary battalions, also the Fifth Armoured Car Company and Royal Tank Corps. It is reported from Hong Kong that Chiangkaishek, erstwhile commander of the Cantonese against the Northern expedition passed through en route to France under an assumed name, accompanied by sixteen friends posing ns students.
