MARITIAL DISPUTE.
JUVUI ft. IkM V- » • CHRISTCHURCH, Aug. 30. Twenty-three years ago, John King Brown married Ellen Rebecca Wasl}ington. In the Supreme Court to-day Brown sued for annulment of the marriage, alleging that the woman had been previously married, and that alien the petitioner married her she had a husband still living. The facts were that the woman had married a man named Webber in 1898. Six months later Webber left her, and Inter she heard from Webber’s relatives that lie was dead. In 1904 she married Brown. In evidence. Brown admitted his wife had sued him for maintenance. David Webber, brother of respondent’s first husband, said lie saw Ills brother at a race meeting in 1904. Without calling on the respondent, the judge dismissed the case on the ground that the evidence of Webber was unsatisfactory and uureliabl?, aaid that it foiled to prove petitioner’s fW.
