FOOTBALL.

On Sunday the touring Golden Bay team played Inangahua at Reefton and won the match by 25 points to 8, after an interesting game. The Golden Bay touring Rugby team who play West Coast at Greymoutli to-morrow are travelling in their own cars, and on Thursday journey over to Canterbury, where they play the rep team at Christchurch on Saturday. Next they play Alarlborough at Blenheim, and on Saturday week meet Nelson at Nelson in a game for the Seddon Shield.

The Inter-Collegiate Rugby tourney ended to-day, Wanganui winning the premiership. The scores were; Wanganui 23 beat Christ’s 5, Wellington 21 beat Nelson 8.

In the South Island Technical Colleges football tournament, Christchurch defeated Dunedin by 43 to 3. The winners were heavier and faster than their opponents, who lacked combina-

tion and were weak on defence. For the winners, Forbes (2), French (2), Blnckaby, Hill, Johansen, Qunid and Burgess got tries, Blaeknby also potting a goal, and Johansen kicking a penalty. Johansen converted three tries, and French one. For Dunedin, Rdbertson scored an unconverted try. CARTERTON, Aug. 29.

Wellington Provincial Primary Schools ltughy tournament was continued at Carterton to-day, when Wairarapa beat Mail a vatu (last year’s holders) liv 17 to 3. Wellington heat Wanganui by 8 to 3. Wairarapa are now leading with two wins, Wellington and Manawntu having one win each, and Wanganui two losses. To-morrow Wairarapa and Wellington meet. If Wairarapa win, they take the championship outright, but if "Wellington win the honour will he shared, each Ming the Shield six months. TIM ABU, Aug. 29. A Secondary Schools football tournament opened here to-day in beautifully line ueatehr, with a. large attendance. Christchurch, playing Southland, completely outclassed the Southerners in every department of the

game, and won by -13 to nil. in the Timara-Otago match, honours were fairly even in the first spell, hut in. the latter part of the second spoil Tiina.ru forwards showed a very marked superiority, and tlicir backs cooperating effectively, the match ended: Timaru 22. Otago 9.

Timarii meets Christchurch in the final on Thursday, anil Southland plays Otago in the losers’ section.
