AMUSEMENTS.

“A PAIR OF BRACES.” TO-NIGHT.

Who is the Ace of Diamonds? TJiis important question will he answered at the Princess Theatre to-night when W. Oracnic-Hohler, tlie talented author of “Mariotte” will stage his latest proved success “A Pair of Braces,” for one night only. Greytnouth critiques speak glowingly of this extremely mystifying comedy-drnina, describing it is “a remarkable show.” The most remarkalble point in the story is tse fact that ‘‘The Ace of Diamonds.” a master criminal, although active throughout the whole course of the play, covers his tracks so carefully that his identity is not actually established until a few minutes before the final fall of the curtain. The story is written with the same originality and cleverness so evident in “Marietto,” which l\lr Graeme-Holder gave ns a few months ago, and a carefully selected caste has been chosen by this clever enterpeneur to interpret this latest of his achievements. Headed by the author himself, and Ills iate, Mr Uric V. Conway, the supporting company includes such proved play- as Misses Marvel Warnes and Beryl Steer, Messrs .Mulra.vno, J. Sherlock, Howard Dodson, l’at Coll, Norman Jones, and Ted Jenkins.

GRAND DOUBLE STAB DISPLAY —WEDNESDAY.

Coming to the Princess Theatre on Wednesday, is a wonderful double-star programme. Star No. 1 will bo the great light picture, Paolino v. Heenev, one of the greatest fights ever staged, the fight that New York went crazy about. The judges gave the decision to Paolino, hut the press and public gave it to Tom Mooney, of Gisborne, N.Z. Come and judge for yourself, every round clearly shown, and taken at the ringside, Madison Square Gardens, N.Y'. City. With all its gentility of garb and manners, society hears a cold fury and cruel malice toward those of its own sort who dare to disregard public opinion. In The Coast of Folly,” her new picture, which will lie shown on Wednesday at the Princess Theatre, Gloria Swanson tears off the straightjacket of conventionality when it hinders the call 1 of her heart, and uses the whiplash of truth on those mongers of scandal who would paint innocence with pitch. There is heartbreak beneath the glitter of surface in this story which. Allan Dwan made for Paramount from the novel by Coniugshy Dawson, adapted by Forrest Halsey. There arc. too, the pathos and happiness of love, given a splendid balance by elements of sparkling eomed.v. Usual prices will be charged.
