THE REVISED RULES. [Australian & A'./. Cable Association.] WELLINGTON, April 4. 111 the course of an interview regarding the revised book ol' Rugby laws issued by the Rugby Union in England, Mr T. A. Fletcher, of the New Zealand Rugby Union and New Zealand Referees' Association, said that not many alterations were being made in the game itself, but there were one or (wo important changes from New Zealand’s point of view. ‘‘The Rugby Union do their utmost to have a universal code for the whole Rugby playing world,” he said. ‘‘We have now only three dispensations, the kick into touch rule, the right to take a mark without making the heel mark, and the right to play the game in four spells. The kick info touch rule is to be the subject of discussion at the annual meeting of the N.Z.Tt.lj. when, a motion is to he brought forward for its abolition. It is difficult to forecast what the result trill be, but I am inclined to think that it will ho retained. Changes made in the rules, however, do not relate to these dispensations, but I may state that though we do no agree with the changes for example, the making of exceptions for the application of the advantage rule and certain phases of the tackle rule, we are going to adopt the English rulings'in the interests of uniformity.” The rules wil be discussed by a conference of the Referees’ Association at Carterton at Easter, and any decisions trill he submitted to the N.Z.R.tT. for confirmation.
