ADDINCTON STOCK SALES. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs H. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday :- Store Sheep.—Another tremendous yarding and again comprised mostly of North lsi'and and travelled ewes and a the time of sending this wire the sale was still in progress. Lambs were easier but there were not many wethers offering, hut what offered looked cheap in comparison with former sales. However, the great influx of sheep from the North Island and the shortage of feed hero has certainly a detrimental effect on the market. Although many people consider the sale was a bad one, considering the quality and ruling conditions, the sale must he considered favourable to vendors and in our opinion there does not seem to he any immediate

prospects of improvement. Store Cattle—A large yarding and included several lines of steers from 18 months to 2 year olds, evidently travelled cattle, generally in poor condition, had colours. These were all passed at from £4 10s to £6. Good young cows sold well at last week’s rate and bulls the same. Best cows C2 15s to £4 10s, medium 35s to £2 to 20s, hulls £3 15s to £0 ss.

Fat Pigs.—A targe entry and improved demand. Values: Choppers £3 to £O. heavy baconors £ 12s to £4, extra heavy to £5, average 7d a lb. Right pork £2 7s to £2 15s, heavy £2 16s to £3 10s. average Bd to 93d.

Store Rigs.—A large entry and the market was easier all round. Values were 9s Od to 17s fid. large to 10s, slips to 5s fid. old stores 27s to 355, large 37s to 455, extra large to 50s, sows in pig £3 10s to £4 11s. Mutton.—A larger yarding than Vast week. The quality was generally very indifferent and comprised mostly ewes. Exporters were operating freely and the market was generally firmer all round. The sale certainly opened firmer hut towards the end slipped somewhat, but oil the whole we consider the prices about Is above last week and schedule prices were lully maintained. Prime wethers 27s to 30s, extra to 325, medium 25s to 26s fid, others to 21s, prime- ewes 21s fid to 245, extra 2fis Id, •medium 16s to 20s fid, freezing weights 11s fid to los Od, others to 9s.

Fat Lambs.—A similar entry to last) week. The quality was very indifferent, evidently showing signs of the

season. Several lines of West Coast lambs were entered and as has been the case this year, although well grown are plain and hard. Any good quality elicited keen competition and taking into consideration the general quality of the market the sale must he considered a good one, and fully up to, and in many cases over schedule rates. Best lambs to 29s fid. prime freezing lambs 21s to 20s fid, medium 22s to 245, others to 18s fid.

Beef.—A large yarding comprising 514 head as compared with 415 Vast week. The quality was very irregular hut included one or two lines of exceptionally good steers. The prices in our opinion were slightly firmer for all steers and on a par with last week’s rates. for cows and heifers taking the market ah’ round we should say it was anything from 10s to 20s above last week. Prime steers £42 5s to £l4 2s. extra I‘lfi 2s fid. medium CO 5s to £l2 15s, others to £0 10s, prime heifers C 7 15s to £0 ss. extra to £l2 los fid, medium ,£(> to £7 10s, others to £4 os, prime cows Cfi 15s to £8 ss, extra to Cll 17s fid, medium Co to £6 10s, others to £3 10s.
