The State Treasurer announced a State loan of £6,812.000 lor renewal of a loan which expired on 10th August last had been fully subscribed. It It bears interest at of per cent. At UN ICJPAL ELECTIONS. MELBOURNE. August 28. The annual elections for all Metropolitan and County Municipalities, with the exception of Melbourne and Geelong City Councils, resulted in the general defeat of Labour candidates, except at Footscray, where they gained two seats. The question of the amalgamation of Fitzroy with the city was carried by a small majority.
