KONDYLIS’ STATEMENT. [Australia & N.Z. Gable Association.] ATHENS, Aug. 25. M. J\oiidouriotis has resumed tho Greece Presidency. LONDON, Aug. 24. General Kondylis has .cabled to tho “Daily Express’’—“l have invited the party chiefs to examine the situation to-day. The first proposal was the formation of a Coalition Cabinet. Please believe that I have no other personal ambition than to restore an oppressed •nation’s political lights. I should even he disposed not to participate in the Cabinet. I am of the people, and am working for the people. I hate dictatorships, and desire justice, without the intrusion of personal hate. 1 am a soldier, and am no judge. I shall invito the President of the Supreme Court to , preside over a Commission to deal with the question of punishing the guilty.” The “Daily Herald’s” Athens correspondent says that General Kondylis later accepted the post of Minister of War. No further steps have been taken to form a coalition. Ex-President Tvondouriotis Isas taken office, saying that it is for the last time, and then only till the situation is normal. EXILE FOR. PANGALOS. ATHENS, Aug. 24. It is reliably reported that, owing to fears that" attempts would be made on General Pangalos’ life if he were kept in Athens, lie will be temporarily exiled on the Island of Santorem, with the ex-War Minister, General Theroulis, till a court is established to try them both.- f ■ The Central News Agency’s Athens correspondent states General Pangalos" was transferred to Algina in order to secure his safety. There was an angry demonstration in the city when a crowd recognised him being tran&feircd.
