He was taken ill on Friday evening when attending the meeting of the Canterbury Education Board at Christchurch and entered Lewisham Hospital for treatment for peritonitis.

There was some excitement at the corner of Park anil Donley Streets Inst evening a limit five o’clock as the result of Air A. Nancekivell's large motor lorry crashing through the bridge that spans the Bealey Street drain. The lorry had a full load of timlwr and furniture and effects and also several passengers when the machine went through the planking, a considerable noise ensuing. The passengers were thrown out, one. ft baby in arms, receiving some injury to its face, but otherwise all escaped with bruises. The bridge was wrecked but the lorry did not appear to have suffered any material damage.
