Prom Southland Progress League, forwarding folders advertising the attractions of the district.—'Received. Pro in .1. W. Cultanec, forwarding copy of petition urging construction of road front. .Jackson liav to Okuru lor the development of the district and supplying particulars as to the resources id' the locality.--Received. The Chairman staved the scheme was worthy of support. Air Uruee agreed, and said the benefits which would arise from the road wore beyond question. It had been suggested that a delegation from the Canterbury League should visit the locality with a view to spying out the resources of the district. A strong effort should he made at this juncture to push the matter lorwai'd prominently. The Government steamer would he visiting Jackson Bay in about six weeks' time and the trip would he an opportune time for the visit of inspection, which ho hoped would he made bv the Canterbury representatives. Perhaps AAestland iepiesentatives would go also. Dr I eieliclmann stated that a year ago he had placed an outline of the scheme before the Canterbury League, and a promise was made then to make tin? visit now desired. The trip would take about a fortnight travelling by the Government steamer. Tt was resolved to support the petition and Dr Teichelmaun who was leaving for Christchurch on Thursday. was asked to meet the Canterbury League on Thursday night. Dr Teiehelmnnn kindly agreed to do so. and it was decided to advise Afr Clime, Christchurch. by telegram of the visit of Dr Teichelmaun.
From Tourist Association forwarding donation towards production of booklet.—Received with thanks. It was resolved to write the railway authorities and on behalf of the people of the district, including Ross, express satisfaction of the new railway time table. The meeting resolved also to support the proposal for the extension of the railway beyond Ross. The meeting concluded at 5.30 p.m.
