[Australia A X.Z. Cable Association.] MATCH AT WAGGA. ,S VOXEL', Dee. 13. The cricket match, New Zealand v. Wagga, began to-day. The wicket was in good order. New Zealand won the to.s.- and sent Wagga in to hat. The latter opened disastrously, Hamilton being caught by ho wry off tlie last hall of the first over. Wagga’s hatting generally was moderate. Gilchrist was sound on the defensive, and lie helped to add thirty runs for the fifth wicket. Oliver’s catch, v.-hieh dismissed Cusick.' was a hard one splendidly taken. Cunningham proved deadly with the hall, and he took three wickets for twenty-two runs in seven overs at his first attempt. New Zealand's opening pair. Blunt and Worker, soon played themselves in, and they hatted splendidly. They look the tofal to sixty when the howler accepted a hard return from Blunt. r.owrv was dismissed by a full toss.

A controversy rogadring the covering of the Sheffield Shield match wicket is causing a good deal of friction. A meeting of the Victorian Cricket Association discussed a letter from the New South Wales Association notifying that ii was proposed to discontinue the covering of the wickets in Hi*- Sheffield Shield matches. The .meeting decided to reply 'that the Victorian Association intended to adhere to the practice of covering the wickets and .suggesting that a conference of Associations lie called to revise the Sheffield Shield rules.
