The home team replied with 68 for six wickets, when slumps were drawn. The game opened in glorious weather on a period wicket. The ground was fast. Patrick nos the loss, and hatted.
The visitors’ innings produced some brilliant batting. Blunt and Worker opened, and they put on 170 before they were separated. Dnerc followed and was especially sparkling, his score including fifteen boundaries. He spent only twenty minutes at the wickets. Blunt gave only two chalices, and lie occupied the crease for three hours. He hit thirty fours and four sixes. Worker played excellent cricket, showing some good strokes. Patrick. Crawford and nope hat l confidently. fi'oulburn commenced their innings late in the afternoon, and made a poor showing against the excellent howling and fielding of New Zealand Following are the scores:--YEW ZEALAND, first innings.
