MILITARISTS’ SFCCESS. VIENNA, June 25
Reports from Athens state tnut Greece is experiencing her seventh revolution in twentv-six years. Tho soldiers and Naval forces, under the leadership of General Pangalos and Admiral Hadjikyriakos have seized the public buildings. They have secured the resignation of the Michalacopoulos Government, declaring their determination to end its maladministration and to reform tho finances. General Pangalos is n. well-known fire eater. Ho has been Generalissimo and War Minister, but be failed to establish himself as Republican Dictator in 1923. Tho armed followers of Gelnergl Pangalos occupied the Post Office and the Ministries at five o'clock this morning, after a. tusilade of blank cartridges. General Pangalos sent an ultimatum, and President Kuondouriotis, held a conference with the Government, '’render Michalacopoulos resigned at 11 o’clock. By one o’clock the president had entrusted to M. Papanastasiou the formation of a now Cabinet. THE NEW MINISTRY. LONDON, Juno 20. The “Daily Express’s” Athens correspondent states; General Pangalos has refused to consider a coalition Cabinet, but has approved of the formation of the Cabinet under M. Papanastasiou, the Republican leader, M Pangalos becoming War Minister, and Admiral Hadjikyriakos Naval Minis* ter. Athens is now two hostile camps. The city appears to be under a reign of terror, but so far the revolution has been bloodless. Only a few shots have been fired in deserted business
quarters. General Pangalos, in liis ultimatum, says: The National Assembly is incapable of meeting tho situation. Tho Government has lost the support of tho army arid navy, as only a few detachments of the Athens Garrison remain to support them. The Republicans will hold the Government and their supporters responsible if a drop of blood is shod. The “Daily Express” adds: Townsend and three naval officers forming the British naval mission at Athens are being recalled, their relations with the Commander of the Greek Navy having been strained. PARIS, J»nc 25. A communique from Salonika states tho revolutionaries have the situation well in hand. They arc not meeting with opposition. Admiral Hadjekvrinkos is reported to have joined the revolution. ATHENS, June 25. Tho truculent attitude of Jugoslavia to Greece during recent negotiations undoubtedly encouraged the Army, and a section of the Navy to overthrow the Cabinet of AL Mitchakipoulos, whoso attitude, especially towards refugee deputies made him unpopular LONDON, June 20. The latest information from .Aliens states it is unlikely that AL Pnpanastassiou will form a Cabinet. General Pangalos is issuing orders from the AVur Office. He claims the rising iis successful throughout tho country.
